Things to Do in Windsor

The town of Windsor, with a history of 200 years, was one of the earliest colonial settlements. It’s truly fun to visit! Departing from the city centre, it’s about a 1.5-hour drive or a 2-hour train ride from T5 Windsor Station.

The town exudes a vintage atmosphere. The main street isn’t large but features old watermills, charming small shops, cafes, and restaurants. Even the road signs have a unique style. Take a leisurely stroll, and you’ll discover many delightful surprises.

There’s a vintage car club nearby, and if you’re lucky, you might see some cool vintage cars cruising the streets.

Must-Visit Spots in Windsor

  • Iconic Watermill – No need to explain much; it’s the town’s symbol and a must for your photo!
  • Mural Walls – Just follow the main street and turn into a little alley. It gives a beachside vacation vibe, perfect for snapping some pictures.
  • Lollies’N’stuff – Also on the main street, this cute candy shop with its dopamine-inducing colors is very photogenic! You can try various adorable snacks. It’s a joyland for kids.
  • The Australiana Pioneer Village Ltd – It authentically recreates the look of Windsor in 1810, featuring old houses, a barbershop, a general store, a post office, and more. The staff even dresses up in costumes reminiscent of the Wild West. You can also experience a horse-drawn carriage ride and enjoy a mini-train ride for the kids. It’s perfect for a family outing.
    • Admission: Adults $10, Children $5, Family Pass $25 (2 adults, 2 children)
    • Address: Rose St, Wilberforce NSW 2756

Dining in Windsor

There are many cafes here, and while the flavours may not be mind-blowing compared to Sydney, the overall dining experience is great. We recommend choosing a restaurant with outdoor seating, facing the vintage streets and buildings, to truly immerse yourself in the authentic Australian old-town atmosphere!

Experience the oldest pub in Australia – Macquarie Arms Hotel. Feel the ambience of a pub from 1815 and enjoy simple meals like burgers, fries, and chicken schnitzel. The taste is moderate, but their drinks are excellent!

So, if you’re looking for a weekend getaway, this charming little town of Windsor in Sydney is definitely worth a visit. Enjoy the nostalgic vibes, take memorable photos, and indulge in the history and beauty of the place!
