Floriade - Canberra Flower Festival

As the temperature gradually rises, all signs are telling us that spring is here, and of course, it’s time for some spring outings! The annual flower festival – Floriade, is about to arrive. The capital will be surrounded by millions of fresh flowers, and this year’s theme is “Floral Wonderland”.

Floriade, with a history of 35 years, will showcase flowers of various colours and varieties, including red, yellow, pink, and white, creating a colourful and fragrant paradise.

In addition to flowers, there will be live music, various performances, international cuisine, snacks, and handicraft exhibitions—basically a massive garden party.

At night, the entire garden will light up with colourful neon lights, creating a fairy tale world for night-time strolls.

Night Fest: 9/28 – 10/1

The flower festival will take place in Commonwealth Park, adjacent to Lake Burley Griffin, covering an area of 8,000 square meters. Under the warm spring sun, it’s incredibly beautiful. Place your phone amidst the flowers, and you’ll capture artistic shots suitable for wallpapers.

There’s even a Ferris wheel in the garden, adding a touch of magic to the scene. Wearing a cute dress, you’ll feel like you’re in a fairy tale.

The park also offers various interactive activities; you can check the official website for details.

On 10/15, there’s a special dog-friendly day, where you can bring your furry friend to frolic in the sea of flowers and make new doggy friends.

Admission during the day is free, but tickets are required for the evening light show.

Taking a hot air balloon ride in Canberra during this season is also a great choice. Besides their vibrant colours, Canberra’s hot air balloons come in unique shapes like dogs, little dinosaurs, bow-tie suits, and more—truly entertaining!
