Fairy Bread Day - The Story Behind the Celebration

Interview with Miranda, Managing Director of Dollar Sweets

Although the ingredients for making Fairy Bread are simple, consisting of white bread, butter, and rainbow sprinkles, it’s a classic childhood treat for every Australian. Each piece of Fairy Bread carries with it their childhood memories.

Fairy Bread Day is celebrated on November 24th every year, and it’s coming up soon! So we interviewed Miranda, the Managing Director of Dollar Sweets, to dive deeper into the fascinating history of this incredible event.

The Story behind the creation of Fairy Bread Day

In 2020, Australian family-owned company, Dollar Sweets, took the reins from founder, Adam Schell, to bring Fairy Bread Day to the next level. Over the past three years, Dollar Sweets has worked its magic with its Fairy Bread Day initiative, raising over $85,000 for Australian youth. From teachers to tradies, Australians from all walks of life have come together to sprinkle kindness and create a meaningful impact in our Australian communities. This year, we will be raising much-needed funds for The Pyjama Foundation which dedicates its work to improving the lives of children in foster care.

When is Fairy Bread Day celebrated? Any reason why the date was chosen?

Fairy Bread Day is an annual celebration that highlights Australians’ love for fairy bread. It occurs on November 24 each year and was born in 2014 when its founder, Adam Schell, conceived the idea on this very day.
