Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool – Hot Spring in the Forest

Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool - Hot Spring in the Forest

Yarrangobilly Caves Thermal Pool, a hot spring pool, is nestled in the valley surrounded by lush greenery. With its emerald green waters and clear blue skies, it has become a popular spot for social media check-ins!

There are two pools, one of which is a larger pool measuring approximately 20 meters, with a constant water temperature of 27 degrees Celsius throughout the year. The other is a smaller children’s pool measuring approximately 10 meters, overflowing from the larger pool.

The water here is “mildly mineralised,” and the natural spring water maintains a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius all year round. While it may not provide the typical hot spring experience on cold days, the water is always pleasantly warm.

Fees: Entry to the pool is completely free, but there is a $4 fee per vehicle for entry.

Opening/Closing Hours: The swimming pool and park are open at all times and may be adjusted during extreme weather conditions.

There are picnic areas available around the pool for picnicking, and at the top of the stairs, there are changing rooms and toilets.

Be on the lookout for local wildlife, as you may be lucky enough to spot water dragons and platypuses in the surroundings.

Upon arrival, you can also explore the nearby Yarrangobilly Caves, where you’ll discover stunning stalactites, stalagmites, and other rock formations. This is a popular attraction within Kosciuszko National Park, offering a close-up experience of breathtaking chambers, exquisite shawls, and underground swimming pools.

How to get here

From Sydney, it takes approximately 5.5 hours by car, so it may require at least 2 days to fully explore the area. Access to the pools can be obtained through the Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre. Be prepared for a short but steep walk into the Rules Creek Valley until you reach the thermal pool. Along the picturesque trail, you’ll enjoy magnificent views of the valley’s trees and mountains as you catch glimpses of the swimming pool while walking.
