Top things to do with kids on the Gold Coast this summer

Here’s a suggestion for everyone, make sure you pre-download the Theme Parks app on your phones and explore the shows and events scheduled for each park on specific dates. Check the approximate distance between each pair of shows, as many shows repeat in the morning and afternoon. Based on your child’s preferences, plan your time wisely, and make decisions on what to prioritise!

Best things to do with kids on the Gold Coast

Sea World

It’s advisable to arrive at the park opening to avoid the midday heat and crowds. Apart from must-see shows for kids, it’s ideal to let them enjoy the amusement park rides first to avoid queues and sun exposure.

Shark Bay is worth a visit, filled with various fishes that kids will love, giving parents a chance to take a breather. Next to the food court is a souvenir shop where our kid found his favourite marine animal toys. You can fill a plastic box with them for $12.99, and the quality is excellent. He bought some last year and this time he filled one for himself and two as Christmas gifts for his friends.

Wet‘n’Wild

No need to say much; Wet‘n’Wild is all about water play!

On a hot day, this is the perfect choice for both adults and kids. Remember to apply sunscreen regularly and consider wearing long-sleeved swimwear.

Movie World

Located next to Wet‘n’Wild, if time is limited, you can go to Wet‘n’Wild in the morning and then directly transfer to Movie World. Afternoon visits are recommended not to miss the final cartoon character parade, which excites the kids. Of course, if time permits, it’s still advisable to spend a whole day at each park for a more immersive experience.

Paradise Country

If it weren’t included in the combo ticket, I wouldn’t have gone. It’s next to Movie World, so if interested, you can visit the farm on the day you go to the other two parks. We took a quick look and left – there weren’t many animals, not worth it compared to a regular zoo.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

In addition to the theme parks, we also visited Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where we fed kangaroos (food for $4 a bag), took photos while holding koalas (paid), observed various local Australian animals, and enjoyed a free small train for transportation between attractions.

We recommend bringing your child’s swimsuit no matter which theme park you visit (except the farm) since there are plenty of water play areas!”
