The LEGO art exhibition has come to Melbourne - Art of the Brick

Art of The Brick is an immersive experience featuring sculptures built from LEGO bricks. This traveling exhibition has attracted over 2 million visitors worldwide and features more than 100 pieces! However, there aren’t many pieces brought to Melbourne. The use of lighting and projections brings out the vibrant colours of LEGO sculptures, making it quite impressive and worth seeing. And of course it’s also very suitable for taking kids to experience!

Highlights

A grand world tour that will visit 9 cities this year, with Melbourne being one of them! Previously, it toured 100 cities in 24 countries and was highly praised, with the creator being a LEGO certified professional master!

This exhibition used over 100,000 bricks to create 150 impressive works of art, including a giant 6-foot tall sculpture of a man being torn apart! There is also a room that recreates many famous world paintings, including “The Scream”, “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and more!

Not only are there art pieces made from LEGO bricks, but there is also a 400㎡ projection room where you can see many endangered animals! Plus, enjoy a colourful LED light show!

What we think

Our favourite parts are the small animals and the clouds with raindrops, all made out of LEGO bricks! Although the venue isn’t very big and there aren’t as many pieces as we imagined, it’s still an exhibition worth seeing.

They feature the artist’s own creative ideas, various expressions of emotions, and replicas of classic artworks, among other things. The layout of the exhibition halls is also very well organised; each time you enter a new hall, there’s a new theme!

The entire exhibition isn’t very large; it can be seen in just an hour. Still, we were quite amazed by the creativity of the artists: the flexibility provided by LEGO allows them to build anything they envision. The only downside is that this exhibition doesn’t have the particularly fancy LEGO pieces like those seen in “LEGO Masters.” It’s somewhat abstract, yet also very artistic.
