Marshmallow Laser Feast at Melbourne ACMI

Marshmallow Laser Feast at Melbourne ACMI

Where to go this weekend in Melbourne? Don’t miss the laser show! It’s not just a feast of lights and electronics; it’s more like a healing journey. Flowing light simulates the growth of trees, black holes, the universe, it’s like entering another parallel world!

Today, we brought our daughter to see the “Marshmallow Laser Feast: Works of Nature” exhibition! Unlike traditional paintings or installation art, this is mainly a showcase of large-screen works, offering a multi-sensory experience. It’s an immersive cinematic art journey from the cycle of life to the universe’s wonders.

The exhibition begins with trees, narrating their shared origins with humans, both stemming from early life forms on Earth. The common ancestors of trees and humans can be traced back hundreds of millions of years. They evolved into different forms and adaptations, eventually diversifying into the various plants and animals we see today.

There are many other immersive viewing areas in the exhibition, including a VR experience zone requiring advance booking, and some parts where you can lie down while watching.

There’s even a meditation area, deep breathing. Close your eyes and feel the connection to nature, like photosynthesis in plants. Every breath is a transformation of the inner universe.

Location: ACMI Exhibition Hall (Federation Square)

The meditation area

Inside the venue, there’s a ten-minute meditation space where you can lie on beanbag sofas wearing headphones, letting yourself go with the natural sounds. You can quietly admire a towering tree or even attempt to touch the stars. The entire exhibition is relatively short, but after coming out, you’ll feel completely zen!

How much does it cost

Adults under 35: $15
Adults over 35: $20
Students: $10
Under 16: $5
Babies under four: Free

This event ends on April 14th.

To ensure the quality of the exhibition, each session has a limited number of attendees, with fixed sessions daily. It’s recommended to book in advance rather than buying tickets on-site. And don’t be late; otherwise, you may be rescheduled, with no guarantee of being accommodated in the next session with available spots!
