When thinking of beaches in Adelaide, the first reaction is definitely Glenelg, Henley, or Brighton. However, there are many lesser-known, but highly recommended beaches in South Australia. They are definitely not inferior to the famous Glenelg!
Most Beautiful Beaches in Adelaide
Flaherty Beach
The first second of seeing this beach, you will feel like you didn’t just get your money’s worth, you hit the jackpot. I didn’t expect to find such a beautiful beach so close to Adelaide. The beauty of it is impossible to capture on a phone, and at the time, I only regretted not buying a drone for aerial photography.
The beach is really jelly-like in color. Up close, it’s transparent, a little further away it’s light blue, then Tiffany blue, and the furthest point is dark blue.
Port Willunga Beach
After playing for the whole day, be sure to come to this beach before the sun sets. The most famous attractions there are the wooden poles in the sea. There are also several small caves on the beach, and sitting here to watch the sunset is really a super beautiful painting. The setting sun shines into the cave, making the entire cave golden.
Glenelg
This place has a beautiful coastline, soft white sandy beaches, clear sea water, long jetty, and a picturesque sunset. Glenelg beach street is also home to bustling shops, exquisite cafes, and a lot of entertainment facilities. Whether it’s enjoying the sunset after school or relaxing on weekends, Glenelg is definitely the first choice for everyone.
Alinga
Alinga Beach is an underwater paradise with abundant marine life and rare coral reefs, and one of the best diving spots in Adelaide. With low traffic, easy-to-find location, and convenient parking, you can fully relax here and experience a leisurely life rhythm that seems to stop time. In addition to diving, bikinis, campers, tents, and BBQs are also synonymous with Alinga Beach. Here, on the shore is a magnificent view, and under the sea is colourful marine life.
Henley Beach
Henley Beach, the new “star beach” in Adelaide, exudes a mature coastal charm and is only a 15-minute drive from Adelaide city centre, making it an excellent place to bask in the sun and watch the sunset during leisure time. Swimming, fishing, boating, and walking are also the “daily routine” here.
Centred on the bustling Henley Square, there are stylish and modern Australian restaurants, a variety of specialty snacks, and a large number of ice cream shops that will definitely satisfy your taste buds!
Semaphore
The seaside town of Semaphore, just a 20-minute drive from the Adelaide Central Business District, is a summer lover’s paradise. It is famous for its rich beach activities and unique cafes. The leisure and entertainment under the sunshine are the unique lifestyle of this beach.
