This year, you don’t have to drive four hours round-trip to Pick Your Own Sunflowers anymore! A new sunflower farm, Girasole Yarra Valley, has opened in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, offering a self-pick experience. These two weeks are the best times to visit, as the sunflowers are in full bloom. Although unlike Pick Your Own Sunflowers, this farm is smaller, with only one main sunflower field, but it’s perfect for photos and flower viewing.
Time: Saturdays and Sundays, 9 AM – 2 PM
Tickets: $10 per person, free for kids under 12
Prices: $6 per stem or $30 for six (Tickets are recommended to be booked in advance on the official website)
- The sunflowers will bloom for only two more weeks – don’t miss out.
- Check the website for more details.
- Remember sun protection and mosquito repellent!
- The farm also has a tractor and a red bicycle for aesthetic shots!
Location: Girasole Yarra Valley, 15 Head Road, Wandin East, VIC 3139
Tips for Visiting:
- Due to recent rains, the ground maybe muddy. Bring an extra pair of shoes and plastic bags to change into clean ones before getting in the car!
- You can bring your own floral scissors or rent a pair on-site for $5. If you’re traveling far or not heading home right away, bring a water container to keep your flowers fresh.
- If visiting with kids, consider bringing gloves, as the sunflower stems have tiny bristles that some kids might find prickly.
- Choose a good weather day for your visit. We went on a rainy day and had to take shelter twice.
- The farm is dog-friendly. There’s plenty of open space, and with fewer crowds, your dog will have a great time.
Plan your visit soon – sunflower season doesn’t last long!
