There are so many outdoor movie events in Sydney in the summer! We didn’t catch the last bus for the Opera House open-air cinema, so we immediately rushed to the beach cinema at Mov’in Bed! You can enter as early as 6 pm in the evening, and the movie starts around eight! The event continues until April; if you miss it, you’ll have to wait until next summer!
What we think
Mov’in Bed is the most comfortable open-air cinema in Sydney for summer days! Movies are screened every day, with some popular films rotating weekly. Entrance is at 6 pm, and the movie starts at 8:30. There are plenty of food options available on-site, and they’ll even deliver it to your bed, such thoughtful service.
On a sunny day, going to Mov’in Bed feels like being instantly transported to California with coconut beaches and sunsets. Especially during sunset, the sunlight on your face is incredibly beautiful!
It’s highly recommended to wear sunglasses and apply sunscreen. It gets really hot before the sun sets.
In terms of food, you can buy drinks, pizza, fries, etc., on-site, and there are fresh coconuts available too which we love! You can also bring your own cold food to the venue.
Getting the Tickets
You can directly purchase tickets with a bed on the official website, with options for VIP and regular tickets. Personally, we think the regular tickets are sufficient, but we do recommend arriving by 6 pm to secure a spot in the middle for the best viewing experience. It’s first-come, first-served for seating!
You can check the website in advance to see which movies will be shown on the day!
The beach bed comes in double ($73.8/bed) and triple ($93.9/bed) sizes. The double is suitable for couples, while the triple is perfect for a family of three!
There are also grass tickets available for $9/person.
