Gold Coast’s Shiro – A Must-Try Japanese Mochi Ice Cream

Gold Coast's Shiro JJapanese Mochi Ice Cream

A newly opened spot on the Gold Coast offers a variety of Japanese mochi ice cream, Japanese rice balls (onigiri), and refreshing beverages! We tried this Shiro last Saturday. It lived up to its reputation, with long queues even at 7 PM.

What we think

The ice cream flavours are very Japanese, including Yuzu & Lemon, Black Sesame, Matcha, Soybean, and Rich Milk.

The process of making mochi ice cream is also fascinating, similar to making dumplings. A layer of mochi wraps around the richly flavoured ice cream, making it definitely worth a try!

Flavours we have tried

Daifuku Mochi (Matcha & Hojicha) AU$8/scoop – The chewy mochi enveloping the rich and slightly bitter matcha is absolutely fantastic! The deep flavour of Hojicha is equally outstanding. Whether you’re a matcha enthusiast or love Hojicha, you can’t afford to miss this.

Address: Shiro Gelato & Snack 50 Nerang St, Southport QLD 4215

Opening hours: 11:30 am – 10 pm
