After finishing at First Fleet Park, head to the pedestrian walkway via the elevator near Wharf 2. Walk towards the Jacarandas and capture iconic landmark shots.

Take the F4 ferry from Circular Quay to Kirribilli Wharf, and after a short walk, you’ll find a peaceful and less crowded spot. When I went, there was only a Korean mom taking endless pictures of her daughter.

McDougall St

A short walk from Carabella St, this spot is just as beautiful! There’s a large lawn, and the densest Jacaranda tree can be your perfect backdrop from the benches.

Lavender St

This spot has just a couple of sparse Jacarandas, and the location is average. However, it’s along the way to the popular photo spot where you can capture Luna Park, the Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge in one frame.

Tips

  • Transport – Most of the above locations are accessible by bus, train, or ferry. You can also enjoy scenic views along the way. The University of Sydney is conveniently reached by bus.
  • Best Time for Photos – Early morning or late afternoon provides the best light, with soft sunlight casting a romantic glow on the Jacarandas. Avoid the harsh midday sun to prevent overexposed photos.
  • Important Notes – Jacaranda season is short, so keep an eye on the weather and bloom updates to plan your trip early and make sure you don’t miss out on this beautiful purple sea.
