Where does it snow in Australia

There are quite a few places you can see snow in Australia, such as Corin Forest, Thredbo, Perisher, Mt Buller, Mt Stirling, Falls Creek and Mt Baw Baw.

You can book everything you need for your snow trip at the following ski resorts (ski tours, accommodation, etc.). Bookings for New South Wales ski resorts start in March, and for Victorian ski resorts, they start in April.

Perisher

Suitable for all skill levels Perisher is Australia’s largest ski resort and one of the most well-known. The mountain is gently sloping with many beginner runs. Typically, the best snow is in July and August, with over 100 ski runs available, including 22% beginner runs, 60% intermediate runs, and 18% advanced runs.

Thredbo

Suitable for all skill levels Thredbo has Australia’s longest ski run and has won the award for the best ski resort in Australia several times. The mountain is steeper than Perisher. There are over 50 ski runs, including 16% beginner runs, 67% intermediate runs, and 17% advanced runs.

Charlotte Pass

Suitable for beginners, intermediate skiers, and families Charlotte Pass is relatively unknown, but it is the highest ski resort in Australia. You can take a snow train directly from Perisher. There are nearly 20 ski runs, including about 10% beginner runs, 80% intermediate runs, and 10% advanced runs.

Mt Baw Baw

Suitable for beginners and families Mt Baw Baw is the closest ski resort to Melbourne, and you can do a day trip. It is great for playing in the snow, and the cable car ticket is very cheap. There are about 15 ski runs, including 25% beginner runs, 64% intermediate runs, and 11% advanced runs.

Mt Buller

Suitable for all skill levels If you think Mt Baw Baw is too small, you can choose Mt Buller, which is closer and bigger. There are over 80 ski runs, including 20% beginner runs, 45% intermediate runs, and 35% advanced runs.

Mt Hotham

Suitable for intermediate skiers and above Mt Hotham is the only ski resort located at the top of a mountain! There is a diamond ski run that is even more difficult than a black run, and there are fewer beginner runs. There are nearly 80 ski runs, including about 20% beginner runs, 40% intermediate runs, and 40% advanced runs.

Falls Creek

Suitable for all skill levels Falls Creek is the largest ski resort in Victoria and is also a paradise for expert skiers. It is the training ground for the Australian cross-country skiing team. There are over 90 ski runs, including approximately 17% beginner runs, 60% intermediate runs, and 23% advanced runs.

You should check with the resort to confirm before you book as most of these winter activities depend on the snowfall!

How much snow does Australia get
