Best Japanese-style Soy Milk Desserts in Sydney

We’ve been wanting to try this Japanese soy milk dessert shop (Toya Tento) for so long, and we finally got the chance. Honestly, the flavours were really impressive. Every dessert features soybeans in some form. After getting tired of Western and Cantonese desserts, these Japanese treats opened up a whole new world! Their specialties are soy-based treats, like soy milk and tofu pudding, with a rich, fragrant soy flavour that’s absolutely amazing.

What we tried

This time, We tried the black sesame tofu pudding. The smooth tofu pudding, paired with thick, not-too-sweet black sesame paste, and a few chewy mochi balls!

The matcha warabi mochi was also really fun! You can use a small spatula to cut it into pieces, then add your favourite toppings, roll it up, and dip it into kinako (soybean flour) and brown sugar. This combo is just unbeatable!

We always buy soy milk whenever we pass by, and they have two types: smooth soy milk and thick soy milk, which are different in texture. The latter is more creamy! There are tons of flavours, and our top are black sesame, genmaicha, and red date!

If you’re into Japanese desserts, you should definitely come and try it!

This soy milk dessert shop has been around for quite a while, it’s worth a try if you’re passing by. Street parking is generally not too hard to find on weekdays. Just keep in mind they open at 3 PM, so don’t come too early!
