Fast Food-Style Yum Cha in Sydney - Yum Cha Project

Last week, we finally checked out a small dim sum spot near Circular Quay. We’d seen long lines there before but never got the chance to visit. What really intrigued us was that they had a Hainan Chicken Pizza! This creative combo merges the elements of traditional Hainanese chicken rice with the flavours of Italian pizza, both novel and delicious! The pizza is topped with tender chicken and drizzled with the fragrant chicken rice sauce. If you’re a fan of both Hainanese chicken and pizza, this is a must-try! We also ordered their Snack Pack, which is only available on Thursdays, and it comes with a curry sauce dip! If you love curry, you’ve got to give it a go!

What we tried

Hainan Chicken Pizza – We went to try this Hainan Chicken Pizza purely out of curiosity! But seriously, how can it be this delicious! This creation has completely surpassed traditional pizza in our mind. The chicken is tender and soft, and the cheese is so rich and flavourful! It’s an unbelievably combination! Our friend gave it a super high rating too by the way! Of course, if you’re only into traditional pizza, maybe skip this one.

$8 BBQ Pork Rice (Tuesday only) – Being a fan of a good deal, how could we resist? We saw that on Tuesdays, both rice and noodles are just $8! We couldn’t hold back from jumping on this deal, haha! The portion of meat didn’t get reduced just because it’s a special offer.

Shrimp Dumplings and Siu Mai – They are delicious! The Siu Mai is huge, and the shrimp dumplings are so solid. Feels just as good as what you’d get at a proper dim sum restaurant!

Fried Snacks – They also have fried Siu Mai, fried spring rolls, and fried mushrooms. The fried mushrooms are amazing! The exterior is super crispy, while the inside is soft and tender. But don’t take them home to reheat, we ordered too much, and they just didn’t taste as good at home as they did fresh at the shop.

Drinks – We got the Strawberry Matcha and Lychee Green Tea. We highly recommend the Lychee Green Tea! It’s insanely refreshing! Sydney is hitting summer so fast these days, and this kind of huge drink is exactly what you need to cool down!

Overall, this dim sum spot is a hidden gem! We’ll definitely be back with friends for another round!
