The Tea Room QVB – Must-Visit High Tea in Sydney

The Tea Room QVB - Must-Visit High Tea in Sydney

Located on the top floor of the QVB (Queen Victoria Building) in Sydney, this place is truly famous. Make sure to book in advance, especially on weekends where it’s advisable to make a reservation a week ahead. We really love the interior design of this place! Also, the chandelier is huge and super elegant! Its decoration style is extremely luxurious, with sparkling crystal chandeliers and vintage patterned cups, exuding a classic English palace vibe.

The experience

The taste of the afternoon tea is also excellent, with various sets to choose from. The freshly baked savoury snacks are crispy and warm, highly recommended! The scones paired with cream and jam also provide a delightful surprise, not at all overwhelming.

Compared to the afternoon teas in many other hotels, which are full of cakes and pastries, We prefer this traditional English afternoon tea. The savoury items are truly commendable, especially the three on the plate, we absolutely love them! There are also sandwiches with different flavours, along with freshly baked and warm scones. Pair them with house-made strawberry jam and cream—pure delight!

The menu offers different options: Traditional ($70 per person), Sparkling ($80 per person), Cocktail ($85 per person), and Champagne ($95 per person). The snacks are the same; it’s the beverages that vary.

The tea selection is extensive, ranging from black tea, red tea, fruit tea to floral tea. It can be a bit overwhelming, but you can also swap tea for coffee (not recommended; if you want coffee, you can easily get it downstairs).

The snacks are truly delicious. The pre-meal Smoke Salmon Toast is impressive, and special mention goes to the Mushroom Tart and Matcha Cream Puffs. They are genuinely flavorful, with a crispy crust and creamy sweetness that isn’t overwhelming. Other snacks have their own unique qualities, and the textures are rich. The chocolate one is slightly bitter, so if you have a sweet tooth, you might want to let your boyfriend have it.
