Every time we visit Japan, we play with Gashapon (capsule toys) whenever we have spare change, especially at places like train stations, airports, and convenience stores. The excitement of opening blind boxes is truly exhilarating.
We heard that Glen has opened a Bandai Gashapon shop, and since we happened to be around, we decided to check it out.
Most capsule toys in the store are related to anime, occupying most of the space. Whether you’re a fan of Japanese anime, Harry Potter, or Sanrio, this place has something for everyone who likes things that are good-looking, fun, or practical.
From what we can see, there are probably hundreds of different varieties in the store. Unfortunately, my luck wasn’t great this time, and we only managed to get a pudding dog.
How to play Gashapon
It’s very simple! First, go to the machine near the entrance to exchange your money for tokens.
Each Gashapon machine will display how many tokens are needed. Typically, it’s 2 tokens, but some with more accessories or larger items may require 3-4 tokens.
If you change your mind after inserting the tokens, you can press “return” to get your tokens back.
If you’re sure about your choice, simply turn the handle clockwise to release the surprise!
Getting to Bandai Gashapon Official Shop
To get to the Bandai Gashapon Official Shop, you need to enter from the outside near the food court, and you’ll spot it just a couple of steps to the right!
When we visited, the store was packed with people, both adults and children, all happily turning Gashapon capsules!
