Strawberry season is almost here, and a wave of sweet “berry” goodness is hitting us! The beginning of November marks the start of strawberry season in South Australia. How can you miss the star strawberry farm, Beerenberg Farm, in the Adelaide Hills!
What is the best month to go strawberry picking?
Summer has arrived in Australia, and it’s time to pick a variety of fresh fruits! Starting in November each year and lasting until March of the following year, you can pick various fruits such as mulberries, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, and more!
Where to pick strawberries in Adelaide?
Beerenberg Farm
The strawberry farm that’s a must-visit every summer! It’s right next to Hahndorf, and you can take a two-stop bus ride from the German Village to get there.
On the weekend, you can enjoy some pork knuckles, have a little beer in the German Village, and then go pick some strawberries in the strawberry fields. It’s pure happiness!
Tickets: $5 per person, free for kids under 12! Strawberries: Self-picked ones are $10.95/KG, and you can also buy pre-picked ones in the store.
Travel: It’s about half an hour from the city by direct bus. After purchasing the tickets, the staff will give you a wristband and a cardboard box.
Next, remember to ask the staff whether the strawberry field across the road or the one on the left side of the store is open! The open strawberry field may vary from day to day! The store also sells some organic jams and a variety of desserts: strawberry ice cream, strawberry milkshakes, strawberry Napoleon—definitely worth a try!
Address: 2106 Mount Barker Rd, Hahndorf SA 5245

Harvest the Fleurieu
Entry fee is $5 per person. Their strawberries are not priced based on the final weight but rather by the box. You can get a box for $10, and you can pick as many strawberries as you can fit in it! Haha! The entrance fee and the box fee need to be paid together at the counter before entering the strawberry field.
They also serve ice cream, which tastes like it’s homemade. You can actually taste the fruit bits in it. Maybe it’s because they use a quality freezer, but I could even feel the icy bits in the ice cream, which was surprisingly good. They let you sample the flavours before buying (some places don’t allow this), and personally, we think their strawberry ice cream is not as sweet as what you might find elsewhere. We prefer this less sweet taste; it feels like they rely on the natural sweetness of the strawberries!
Address: 2256 Victor Harbor Rd, Mount Compass SA 5210
There are plenty of parking spaces, and you can park for free along the long row near the entrance.
Opening hours: Seven days a week, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
