VIC and QLD: Easter weekend lines up almost exactly with the start of Term 1 school holidays. VIC’s term ends Thursday 25 March, with holidays starting Friday 26 March — the same day as Good Friday. QLD follows the same pattern. For families in these two states, Easter effectively extends the school holiday break into a longer stretch.
NSW, WA, SA and NT: Term 1 continues through the Easter period in 2027 — school holidays for these states don’t begin until early-to-mid April. Easter weekend falls during term time, so it’s a standalone long weekend rather than an extension of the school break.
