Today we took out kid to a very popular playground, the Charles Heath Reserve Playground. It’s near Canada Bay / Five Dock.
This park is known to get really busy. I went on a Tuesday and couldn’t even find parking nearby — ended up parking at the Five Dock Leisure Centre. That alone tells you how crazy it must be on weekends.
Finally ticked this one off the list at Five Dock / Charles Heath Reserve Playground.

For an 8-year-old, it’s probably on the slightly younger side, but that didn’t stop him at all — he was happily running around the whole time.
Playground highlights:
- Lots of climbing structures: suitable for different age groups — younger kids can explore safely, older kids can challenge themselves.
- Three main slide zones: from toddler-friendly slides to more exciting ones, enough variety for a full play session.
- Two large sandpits: bring sand toys — kids can easily spend hours here.
- Classic playground features: swings, trampolines, balance beams, and more — lots of energy-burning options.
The whole area is fully fenced, which is a big plus, and the toilets are right next to the fenced section — super convenient.
Tips
- Strong sun exposure: make sure you’re fully prepared with hat, sunscreen, and sun-protective clothing.
- Bring a change of clothes: there’s both a sand play area and a water play zone, so kids will definitely get wet.
Across the road is Papa’s, so you can easily grab a coffee to survive the outing.
If the kids get caught out by rain and aren’t finished playing, there’s also Juggle Bubs/Buddies nearby for indoor play.
It’s not a huge park, but it has everything you need packed into one space. On weekends, even with strong wind, it still gets quite crowded, though the experience is still good.
For coffee nearby, Cucina Espresso Concord is also an option, with street parking or a nearby free car park available.
