Brisbane finally has a proper Chinese pastry specialty shop! The Dragon Pastry (龙门酥局) opened today, it’s their first day of business. We queued for two hours, but honestly, no regrets.
We bought one of everything to try. The gift box even comes with a small massage hammer. As soon as we got home, we started tasting them! The flaky layers are beautifully distinct, and they crumble at the slightest touch. Best of all, they are not overly sweet.
Today is their grand opening day. We’re among the first to try it. Prices range from $2 to $6 each.
They also have desserts, we will try those next time.
The pastries are delicate, visually appealing, and not too sweet. They would make great holiday gifts.
The Dragon Pastry is located inside Garden City Westfield, on the same level as Woolworths!
What we liked:
- Pineapple cakes — delicious!
- Flower cakes — very fresh
- Jujube paste pastries — rich, slightly oily filling
- Persimmon pastry — decent, seems to have jam inside
