Ways To Educate Your Kids While on Holidays

After having a long school break means that your kids might require extra support to get back into their routine of daily study when the new school term comes around! Making sure your kids continue at least some educational activities over the school holiday can really help them stay confident, equipped and ready to tackle the new semester when they go back to school! So, what are the ways you can encourage your kid to learn over the school break? We have put together some great tips for you.

Have fun at educational places!

Visiting your local museum, art gallery, zoo or aquarium are low cost ways for your kids to have fun while learning! To get the most of it, you can encourage your child to ask questions during their visits or simply reading out the plaques in the exhibits. Places like museums always have new exhibitions, make sure checking out their website to find out what exhibitions they have in the coming weeks!

Reading books!

It’s a good idea to set some reading goals with your kids! Don’t forget to read together with your kids as they are more likely to enjoy reading when this behaviour is modelled by someone. If you are going on a road trip, you can try getting them to read guidebooks, maps or even brochures, these will help getting them excited for their trip. It will also be a great idea to get some teaching resources like the editable book covers before you go on your trip.

Board games time!

There are some great board games out there such as Scrabble or Monopoly! They are both fun, and educational. They will keep you and your kids entertained for hours, especially great for those rainy days. One thing board games can provide is to help your kids to learn from failure. When playing board games, we fail repeatedly which means your kids will become more comfortable with failing and learn from it. Other than the educational benefits, it also helps getting your kids away from screens!
