Frew Park

We were actually recommended this park – Frew Park by our neighbour. Their 3-year-old comes here every week with friends, and even Google Maps labels it as “Highly rated” — over 1,300 reviews with a 4.7-star rating. The photos looked really attractive too. We always thought it was too far, so we had never visited before. A

Frew Park reviews

The Frew Park playground feels like a reinforced concrete industrial zone, with every section connected together. Parents can easily move through the whole structure as well, so there’s no need to worry about keeping up with the kids.

The main feature is a tall tube slide. The design looks pretty cool, but there aren’t any transparent windows to let light in.

The playground has a large flat wall behind the play area, with three basketball hoops built into the top. The activity area is very spacious, with a playground that caters to both younger and older kids.

There is a large climbing structure suitable for kids aged 6–15.

There is also a free mini tennis court.

There are plenty of places to sit around the park. Kids can also ride their bikes while adults enjoy a picnic. Behind the playground is a fairly flat grass area where you can kick a ball around.

At first I thought the basketball hoops were for kids to practise shooting, but when we visited on the weekend, we found lots of parents bringing their kids to play tennis there instead.

Parking: Very difficult. Parking spaces are extremely limited, so you’ll likely need to find street parking nearby.

Food: None inside the park. On weekends there’s usually an ice cream truck ready to empty parents’ wallets. There’s also a McDonald’s nearby.

Things to know: Make sure your kids wear durable clothes and pants that can get dirty.

There are lots of BBQs and birthday parties at the park on weekends.
