The park’s remote location means it’s teeming with wildlife. You can spot emus, echidnas, lizards, wallabies, kangaroos, Australian wild dogs, and a variety of bird species.
During ancient times, rising sea levels submerged lower-lying areas, isolating Cape Range National Park as an independent island. Thanks to this unique geographical isolation, the park is home to several endemic species.
Among the park’s attractions, Shothole Canyon and Charles Knife Canyon are favourites among outdoor enthusiasts.
Driving along the off-road gravel tracks, exploring the spectacular canyons and ranges step by step on hiking trails, even roadside wildflowers will fill you with joy!

Things you need to know
Exmouth town is only 36 kilometres away from Cape Range National Park, and it even has an airport nearby, making it an ideal starting point for your road trip or journey.
The mountain roads are rugged, mostly gravel, and not suitable for self-driving without adequate experience and the right equipment.
