Discovering the Best Things to Do in Leura

Things to Do in Leura

Visiting Leura is not just about seeing the maple leaves! This Sydney town surprisingly has so many hidden gems. Sydney locals must know this town, Leura, a must-visit spot on the way to the Blue Mountains. Every year during the maple leaf season, it attracts many tourists for photography. However, this town actually hides numerous exquisite little shops and picturesque spots worth visiting. It’s not far from Sydney, and you can even reach it by train, making it a perfect destination for a weekend stroll!

Start your morning by driving, and within an hour and a half, you’ll arrive at the popular restaurant, The Bunker, for a delightful brunch. If you don’t want to drive, you can take the train from Central Station directly to Leura Station, and the restaurant is conveniently located right next to the station. It feels like a fairy-tale mountain cabin, we recommend sitting outdoors as the atmosphere is very chill. The food might not be extraordinary, but it brings a sense of relaxation away from the city hustle!

After a satisfying meal, it’s time for a leisurely shopping spree. The town is filled with many vintage shops and adorable ice cream parlours. We suggest strolling along the main street and taking your time to explore. The streets are beautiful, and you’ll discover many eye-catching murals. Below are some shops that worth a visit!

Leura Cabinet of Curiosities

This shop offers various interesting trinkets and furniture, along with vintage bags and jewellery. It’s the kind of store where you can spend time treasure hunting!

Josophan’s Fine Chocolates

A chocolate specialty store selling handmade chocolates, perfect for bringing back as souvenirs. They also serve ice cream, and you must try their dark chocolate flavor! It’s rich and beats many Gelato places in Sydney!

Address: 187 Leura Mall, Leura NSW 2780

After exploring the shops, don’t forget to check out the attractions below!

Everglades House & Gardens

Entrance fee $17. Although it requires a ticket, we find it quite worthwhile. It’s an artist’s private residence with a beautiful garden. The garden isn’t large, but it’s well-designed, and on a sunny day, it’s perfect for photography. Just keep in mind that it can get chilly in winter, so dress warmly.

Sublime Point lookout

This is our favourite spot with few people, beautiful scenery, and the perfect sunset view! It’s best to come around 7:00 PM in the evening during summer. Follow a short 7-8 minute hiking trail, and you’ll reach the viewpoint to see the iconic Three Sisters!

Bygone Beauty’s Teapot Museum

Entrance fee $5.5. This place is more touristy, but if it’s your first time visiting, it’s worth a look. It’s the world’s largest private collection of teapots, all gathered from around the globe by the owner. Some teapots are even available for purchase. There’s a cute little teapot at the entrance, ideal for taking pictures!
