Tasting Australia 2023 – South Australian Food Festival

tasting australia 2023

The annual food festival “Tasting Australia” is back again this year, and you can participate without leaving the CBD! Many popular local restaurants and food shops are participating, so Adelaide’s foodies are in for a treat!

As the event takes place in the evening, it may be difficult to read the menus at the booths. However, you can check each food vendor’s menu on the website and make a decision in advance to save time. Here are some of our recommended food options!

  1. BOSTON BAY SMALLGOODS X SMOKIN’ GRILLERS. Their Port Lincoln Platter consists of four different grilled types of meat, all of which are quite tasty. There is a slightly salty red sausage included on the platter, and the sharing portion is generous enough for two people.
  2. ANGLER. The second dish is Kingfish Sashimi, and the third dish is Oyster and Woodfired Market Fish. The fish is very fresh, and the grilled fish is also quite delicious. However, the price of $5 per oyster is a bit expensive.
  3. HUBBA HUBBA HUMMUS. We ordered the lamb hummus, which had a slightly gamey taste. However, the chickpea hummus inside was really tasty!
  4. CHILLI SHACK. You can try their Chilli Crab with Egg Noodles, which tasted like Thai Tom Yum Gong fried noodles. The price of $23 for a whole crab was quite reasonable!
  5. GANG GANG. Definitely try their Fried Cheese, which was an absolute delight for cheese lovers. It was a fatty fried cheese bomb that was really tasty.
  6. SHIBUI DESSERT BAR. There were only two dessert shops at the event, and we tried both. The first one had ice cream that you could add toppings to, and we ordered roasted marshmallows. The ice cream was quite good and was a good palate cleanser after dinner.
