Having trouble finding a restaurant that satisfies everyone’s taste buds when dining with friends? Craving different cuisines, but restaurants are too far apart from each other? You should definitely check out the Eat Street container night market! You can enjoy Italian pasta with fresh oysters while indulging in Thai pizza and red wine with just a few steps. We are going to give you a quick tour of the famous container night market in Brisbane.
How to get to the Brisbane Eat Street Market
Take the ferry from UQ or the nearest station, which takes about an hour and a half to the Northshore terminal. Then walk a few steps from the ferry terminal and you will arrive at the entrance. If you’re driving from the city, it takes about 20 minutes.
Opening Hours: Friday & Saturday: 4:00 pm to 10:00pm and Sunday 4:00pm to 9:00pm. Closed on other days and public holidays.
There are two entrances, one on the east side and the other on the north side. You can enter and exit from either. There is a DJ playing music on the small stage on the right-hand side of the east entrance after 6 pm.
What to eat at Eat Street Market
Since everyone has different preferences, we would recommend taking a stroll around first, then making your choice. Most of the dishes are priced between $10 to $15, and the portions are quite generous. You can also consider sharing among your group.
One must-try dish is the oysters from Oyster House. 6 oysters cost $15 and they are from Tasmania. These oysters are especially creamy and full-bodied, very delicious. They also serve potato chips with chicken salt, which is their most famous flavour, for $6 a skewer. Before leaving, you should also get the famous pineapple-flavoured Pinna Cotta ice cream, which is really delicious and cost $10 per scoop!
Oyster Bar
The Oyster Bar is a must-try spot when you come to Eat Street! It’s great to pair with a cold beer. The oysters here are fresh and massive, and they’re sold individually with a variety of flavours to mix and match.
American BBQ Beef
We would highly recommend this spot. They use charcoal-grilled American beef, which is incredibly tasty. They also serve it with some rice which makes it the perfect option for someone who is a bit hungry.
Slinky Potato Roll
Slinky is a fried potato dish. At first glance, it may seem ordinary, but it tastes very different from the potato chips sold elsewhere. When you eat it, you can still taste the full potato flavour without the feeling of eating your normal chips. We would say it is a must-try at Eat Street. You can choose from different flavours such as salt, chicken broth, cheese, and vegetables.
Poffertjes & Waffles
After introducing some savoury options, of course, it’s time to talk about – dessert! Poffertjes & Waffles is one of our favourite dessert spots. Their treats are soft and fluffy, with a variety of flavours to choose from. You should definitely get the one with the ice cream!
Double Good Donuts
This spot also serves dessert, with drinks and donuts that look like pancakes. Eat Street’s desserts are so over-the-top! Every item looks so delicious.
Organic Tea House
Fruit Beverages Organic Tea House is the first beverage store located at the entrance. Many people are waiting in line, but the drinks are all non-alcoholic. You can ask the staff for a taste test, but the drinks tend to be on the light side, so I personally don’t recommend it.
Locomades Popcorn
Passing by the popcorn stand, we were immediately drawn in by the smell of the popcorn. It was so fragrant! The cup is actually quite big and big enough for you to share with friends. For the flavour, we highly recommend the salty caramel! The sweet and salty taste is absolutely delicious, and the caramel colour and aroma are just the best!
