New Japanese Bakery Opens in Southeast Melbourne – Toast House

New Family-style Japanese Bakery Opens in Southeast Melbourne - Toast House

This new bakery (Toast House) in Camberwell has been quite popular lately. We visited first thing on the weekend! We had read on social media that they sometimes run out of items, so we were a little worried, but when we went at around 10:30amM, they still had a full selection available, and we were pretty lucky!

Their most popular items are the “Double Delight” and the “Milk Jelly Buns”! This time, the surprise favourites were the Swirl Bread and the savoury options, which were also very tasty!

What we think

Their toast is very soft, and the filling is generous. It’s soft to the bite yet chewy!

As for the price, we think it’s reasonable, averaging $6-8 per piece. The portions are large too! After all, we’ve tried toast costing $15+ before, and those were larger.

Chocolate Bread

For those who love chocolate, don’t miss out! It’s like a chocolate waterfall with a gooey centre and the chewy mochi is delicious!

Ham and Cheese and Garlic Butter Buns

Super aromatic! The filling isn’t dry at all, packed with cheese! Crispy on the outside and the right amount of saltiness with a soft filling!

Swirl Bread

Great for breakfast with milk or coffee! Tastes good with jam and chocolate spread – it’s a beautiful and slightly chewy bread that won’t hurt your teeth, simple yet delicious!

Milk Jelly Buns

Available in strawberry, pistachio, and black sesame flavours! We chose pistachio; the milk jelly centre was delightful, and although the pistachio paste was a bit sweet, it was overall quite good!

There aren’t many seats inside, mostly takeaway.
