Those who like sunflowers this year you don’t need to travel thousands of miles to the Pick Your Own Sunflowers farm that takes four hours round trip anymore.
A sunflower farm where you can pick flowers yourself has newly opened in Melbourne’s east, Girasole Yarra Valley. Recently the flowers have gradually started blooming. The view on site is really stunning! Photos look amazing on sunny days.
Remember to prepare sun protection and mosquito repellent. There is no shade and the sun exposure is strong, and the noon sunlight shining directly can also cause backlight and overexposure.
The red soil can easily dirty your shoes, so it’s recommended to wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty!
The whole farm is not very big. Walking from the start to the end may only take 10–15 minutes. It feels much smaller than the one in Ballarat.
You can rent scissors and pick sunflowers yourself. This experience is still worth having.
Girasole Yarra Valley
Picking period: Saturday and Sunday 9am – 2pm
Ticket: $10 per person, children under 12 free.
Fresh flowers: $6 each or $30 for 6.
Scissors rental: $5.
Tickets are recommended to be booked in advance on the official website.
Dogs are allowed.
Ticket $10 per person and booking online is recommended. If there are too many people and council comes to check, walk-ins may not be allowed. Online booking has a booking fee so it becomes about $11.5 per person.
I put the address directly here because Google Maps didn’t have the street number and you need to search Girasole YV. It was only updated on Google Maps today. The farm’s own website also didn’t write the street number. If we didn’t see the roadside sign we would have driven past.
