Staying in a Forest Cabin – Arcadia Cottages

Staying in a Forest Cabin - Arcadia Cottages

During the Easter holiday, we went to Dandenong again and finally visited the forest cabin (Arcadia Cottages) we’ve been wanting to visit for a long time! It rained again, but it wasn’t a bad thing at all as it added to the atmospheric experience!

Arcadia Cottages offer four types of accommodations. This time, we booked the treehouse because it’s the only one with a transparent glass balcony! You can book directly through the official website, and if you book closer to the date, there might be discounts, so if you’re not in a hurry, keep an eye out for those deals!

Treehouse and the glass balcony

Check-in for the cabins starts at 2:30 pm on the day of reservation. When we arrived, the staff took us to the booked cabin and gave us a detailed introduction to the entire house, including how to use the furniture and appliances.

There’s a fireplace inside each cabin, and they even showed us how to start and put out the fire.

Each cabin also provides a simple breakfast basket with cereals, snacks, bread, various sauces, and in the fridge, there’s milk, bacon, eggs, etc. They also provide wine, chocolates, and tea bags on the table!

The highlight of the Treehouse accommodation is the glass balcony, perfect for relaxing with a blanket and headphones! There’s also a small loft with two sofas upstairs.

What we think

Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the cabin! The facilities and amenities were quite comprehensive and clean! However, they don’t provide slippers so don’t forget to bring your own.

Despite the air conditioning and fireplace, it can still be quite cold directly on the floor in the current weather.

Things to do nearby

Just a ten-minute walk from the accommodation is Olinda Township, where you’ll find various shops, cafes, aromatherapy stores, thrift shops, and a famous pie shop called “Pie in the Sky”. We tried the beef and pumpkin pies, which were quite good and can be a breakfast option!
