Found Kuki in Burwood and figured we’d try it. Shop’s small, cookies baked fresh and served warm. Cookie flavours there are plenty of, mostly variations on dark or white chocolate paired with different nuts. Ice cream’s a much shorter list, just vanilla or Earl Grey.
What we like
Taro Mochi cookie with Earl Grey ice cream
Got a Taro Mochi cookie paired with the Earl Grey scoop. Ice cream was properly good, strong milk tea flavour coming through rather than a faint hint of it. Cookie came out hot, taro paste and mochi melted through the middle, also good.
Matcha mochi cookie
Big thick cookies on display, looked properly good. The guy behind the counter pushed the chocolate one as their most popular, but I also grabbed a matcha mochi. Finally found what I’ve been after, a genuinely bitter matcha cookie, not sweet at all, mochi baked into the middle. Exactly my kind of thing.
Heating it up
They’ll pair a cookie with ice cream if you want, and the staff member asked if I wanted mine heated before handing it over. Obviously yes. Figured the chocolate one would be even better warm, that gooey melted centre everyone talks about. Next visit.

Next door
Grabbed a camellia milk tea from Teaspot on the way out, a faint orchid note that lingered after each sip, worth trying if you’re already in the area. Funny coincidence, Kuki’s bags and Teaspot’s bags are the exact same colour, could easily mistake one for the other if you didn’t know better.
Worth it
The matcha mochi was the standout for me, properly bitter matcha with that chewy mochi centre, and the Taro Mochi and Earl Grey combo wasn’t far behind. If you’re after something sweeter, the brown butter choc chip looked like the one to get, and apparently tastes even better reheated. Kuki is in Burwood.
