We visited Hinterland Adventure Playground in Cooroy, in the Noosa hinterland.
The whole park has a raw forest feel. It also looks very industrial, almost cyber, because so much of it is silver metal set against bare logs and big trees.
The Tower and the Long Silver Slide
The tall tower is the first thing I noticed. It is built from grey timber and metal mesh, with criss-crossing beams at the top that look like a giant nest.
You reach it by walking along a long wooden walkway with log railings on both sides. A long silver tube slide spirals down from the tower. The bottom of it comes out into a bed of wood chips. Beside it is a smaller green slide. Over the top of the whole area there are huge metal windmill-style shade structures on curved poles.
Log Climbing
Next to the tower there is a large area of tall bare logs standing like dead trees, with rope nets stretched between log frames at different heights. There are also the climbing equipments. The park suits kids aged 4 and over, and there is one small area for younger kids.
The Rocket Ship
There is a rocket ship made of silver metal, with fins and a pointed nose. Beside it, a green tube slide with two smiley faces comes out of the covered picnic shelter.
I liked that it was fun and a bit odd, and it matched the industrial look of the rest of the park.
The Water Channel
The park has a small water channel, and in summer kids can play in it. It runs between large rounded boulders and stone paving, under big shady trees, with benches around the edge.
I will bring clean clothes and a towel next time we come in summer!
Shops and Cafes Nearby
The street outside the park has a lot of shops and cafes, so it is easy to get food or a coffee after playing.
Our Take
I would recommend stopping here if you are passing through. The park is big, a little unusual and well built. The difficult climbing is the main thing to think about for younger kids.
