Guide to Pick Your Own Persimmons at Aviani Farm in Galston

Autumn is here, and persimmon season has quietly arrived! We went persimmon picking this Easter, and it was such a different experience, we really enjoyed the feeling of picking persimmons by hand!

Aviani Persimmon Farm
Address – 304 Galston Rd, Galston NSW 2159

A family-owned persimmon farm located north of Dural, very close to Sydney. If you’re in the north or west, it’s around a 30-minute drive.

There are quite a few varieties, both crunchy and soft persimmons. I personally prefer the crunchy ones, so we mainly stayed in that section.

The farm is very clean, with large open grassy areas. They provide picking tools, and there are hoses in the persimmon area so you can wash the fruit or your hands. The owner even provides peelers, which is great for younger kids.

Adults around $10–12.5, Kids around $7–8.5, Picked fruit: $7.5/kg

You need to bring your own bag, but scissors and peelers are provided on-site.

There are two types you can pick, larger soft persimmons and smaller crunchy ones (like what you see in supermarkets), both are sweet.

The quality of the persimmons is really good, but you do need to pick carefully — which is part of the fun of picking your own.

We checked online Friday night and managed to book a 2–3pm slot. Had lunch nearby first, then drove 3 minutes to the farm. The persimmons were sweet and juicy, definitely worth it.

The orchard itself is also really nice for photos. After picking, you can head to nearby Fagan Park for a walk which makes for a perfect day.

This farm has been around for about 30 years, with around 100 persimmon trees. You don’t need to ride any tractors, you can easily walk in and pick.

If you like soft persimmons, you can leave the crunchy ones upside down at home and they’ll soften.

Overall, such a good spot for a relaxed weekend — especially if you’re bringing kids.

In Galston there are two farms, The Persimmon Place and Aviani Persimmon Farm. They’re very close to each other, and both require bookings.
