Today’s featured playground is located inside Parramatta Park. It has a sandpit (with sand diggers), water pump, slides, swings, a flying fox and more—perfect for kids of all ages.
Domain Creek Playground (a bit further inside the park)
- This is currently my little one’s favourite playground — because of the diggers
- Water play + sand play
- Sand area with excavators — a dream for kids
- Rope climbing and slide features further in
- Trampolines and a large swing
- Plenty of seating, but very little shade
Domain Creek Playground reviews
Parramatta Park has two playgrounds we really like. The one on the western side, Domain Creek Playground, is a spacious, nature-style playground where you can easily spend an entire afternoon. There’s a huge grassy area next to it for picnics, ball games, and more, plus sheltered BBQ and picnic areas that are great for gatherings.
The playground itself is quite large and has a layout similar to Lizard Log Playground in Western Sydney Parklands. It’s usually not too crowded, and because the space is so big, people spread out across different zones, which makes it feel quite safe.
- Playground notes:
- Great for cloudy days; metal slides can get hot on very sunny days
- Suitable for both toddlers and older kids
- Not scooter-friendly
- Toilets available in the park

Play equipment:
- Rope climbing structure with metal slides
- Multiple sandpits
- Standing seesaw
- Water pumps and channels
- Trampolines
- Two spinning elements
- Two net swings (different sizes)
- Three metal diggers in the sandpit (perfect for vehicle-loving kids)
- Swings
- Flying fox (currently under maintenance)
Park along West Domain Avenue — it’s just a short walk across the grass to the playground.
Inside Parramatta Park, there are also two cafés with outdoor seating:
- Bakehouse Tea Rooms (closed Mon–Tue, usually 7am–2pm, high tea available by booking)
- Good George Café (open daily, approx. 7:30am–2:30pm)
Nearby spots:
- Paperbark Playground
- Parramatta Riverside Theatre
