Compared to the larger playgrounds, this medium-sized one (Mulgrave Reserve Playground) feels much more peaceful and relaxing. Each play area is spaced well apart, making it easy for kids of different ages to enjoy their own space.
For younger kids, the toddler area is designed around a little balance bridge, with a low slide, baby swings, a musical bridge, and an in-ground trampoline. Plenty of opportunities to tick off today’s big movement goals!
Kids aged 3 and up will probably love the longer, more challenging slide. There are no stairs to get to the top—you’ll need to choose between climbing the rope net or the rock wall. It’s the perfect energy burner.
Kids can also enter the inside of the slide tower from one side of the climbing net. Once inside, they can either climb all the way to the top via the rope ladder for the view or take one of the smaller slides back down. My big boy kept repeating this little “challenge course” over and over again.
Keep walking along the path and you’ll reach another climbing structure. The rope nets vary in difficulty, and some sections require a bit more height and confidence. Overall, it’s best suited to kids aged 5 and above with endless energy. It’s also the kind of place where Aussie kids climb to the top with their friends and just sit around chatting.
Like many Aussie playgrounds, it’s connected to a large oval sports field and a colourful basketball court. There are change rooms, toilets, BBQ facilities, and everything you need for a family outing.
One of my favourite things is that grandparents have their own fitness equipment nearby, so they’re not just sitting around while the kids play.
Our tips
- Bring a basketball—the court is brand new.
- The toilets are very clean.
- It’s a great park for kids to ride their scooters.
- There’s a huge open grassy area next to the playground, perfect for walking or simply letting the kids run as much as they want.
For the kids: The playground is spacious. Older kids have challenging climbing structures and giant slides (they’ll definitely sleep well afterwards 💤), while younger toddlers have their own dedicated play area.
For active families: There are two massive sports fields, so don’t forget to bring a soccer ball and let the kids run wild.
For dog owners: There’s an off-leash dog area, so even your furry family member can join the outing. The nearby wetland is also a lovely place to take the kids for a walk and spot ducks and other wildlife.
Pack a picnic rug and some snacks, and it’s easy to spend half a day here without getting bored. The biggest highlight of this park is how well it caters to the whole family.
