Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm

Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm

August is exactly the season when lavender is in full bloom.

This year, during the Ekka public holiday, we finally went to the lavender farm we had been wanting to visit for a long time — Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm. It is about a 1 hour 20 minute drive from Toowong. The lavender fields are typically in full bloom during the Queensland winter months.

We recommend arriving a bit earlier, around 10:30am. There will be fewer people, making it easier to take photos. There are lots of bees around the lavender bushes, so be a little careful when taking photos and try not to get stung.

However, due to wedding events, the farm is not open on certain days. Make sure to check the dates in advance so you don’t make the trip for nothing.

No entry ticket required. Free admission (pet-friendly for your furry friends).

The restaurant requires advance bookings, but the outdoor terrace area does not (you can also order food there). The menu is mostly fries, cheese, and other Western-style food, with prices around $15–35. The taste is average.

When you arrive, it’s best to find a seat first before ordering because it can get quite busy. If there are no seats available, the staff will give you a small basket, and you can take it to the nearby lawn for a picnic. Sitting in the sun is quite nice too.

However, the lavender ice cream is worth trying. It has a rich creamy flavour, with lavender seeds and roasted nut pieces mixed in.

The estate also produces its own wines, priced at around $25–39 per bottle. The wines are quite good. We bought a few bottles of ROSA to have at home when guests visit.

There is also a lovely little gift shop next door that is great to browse through. Hand wash, hand cream, soap, and honey are all lavender-themed. The scent is very relaxing and we absolutely loved it. You can also buy wine there. The farm’s lavender gift shop stocks a range of lavender products and local goods.
