This year’s Lightscape in Perth is probably the best one yet. Honestly, it’s really worth going.
We booked through Ticketek, just search “Lightscape” on Google and it comes up straight away.
It rained a bit while we were there, but the rain under the spotlights actually made everything look way better than expected. Kind of misty, glowing, cinematic.

- Lightscape is a 1.8 km night trail through Kings Park
- Over 20 light and sound installations along the walk
- Best moment: final installation area (most crowded, most photogenic)
- Firepit halfway through where you can roast marshmallows
- Very atmospheric, but quite dark in most areas so photos can be tricky
- Bring a small fill light if you want decent shots
It’s basically one long walking trail through Kings Park.
You just follow the path and everything slowly builds up as you walk deeper into it.
There’s a firepit stop in the middle where people just hang around, roast marshmallows, warm up a bit, then keep going.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT THIS YEAR
A lot of the installations feel new or upgraded this year.
You’ll see things like:
- glowing lanterns that keep shifting colour
- a cube tunnel that feels like you’re walking inside a kaleidoscope
- light flowers hanging down from the trees
- large sculptural light pieces along the path
- mushroom-inspired art installations
- floating “seed” style light effects
Everything is still very nature-based, inspired by Western Australia’s plants, insects, and landscape.
WHY PEOPLE STAY TILL THE END
The final section is where most people stop.
It’s the most crowded area, but also the most impressive visually.
If you’re trying to get photos, that’s the spot you’ll probably end up spending the most time at.
It just looks really good when everything syncs together.

Better just walking through it slowly, taking it in, and enjoying the whole vibe.
