Sea Cliff Bridge – Sydney’s Most Beautiful Coastal Drive

The 665-meter-long Sea Cliff Bridge is a prominent attraction along the Grand Pacific Drive in New South Wales, Australia. Stretching from the Royal National Park (Loftus) to Nowra, this route offers scenic coastal views for 140 kilometres.

This bridge has become a symbol of Wollongong, drawing many tourists to this stunning coastal road every year!

Opened in December 2005, the Sea Cliff Bridge provides an opportunity for travellers to stop and stretch their legs. It also serves as an excellent vantage point for whale-watching during the migration seasons as whales move north and south along the coast.

Rube Hargrave Park

Free parking available inside the park. After parking your car, you can walk 8 minutes to the bridge for scenic views. When you return to the Rube Hargrave Park parking lot, head towards the far end. There will be a sign and a wooded path nearby. Follow the yellow signs on the trees (they have “track” written on them and various arrows).

After about a 15-minute walk, you’ll reach the Instagram-worthy viewpoint (there are two viewpoints offering different angles of the bridge).

In the afternoon, you might be shooting against the backlight, but you can still capture a serene atmosphere. For smartphone photography, use the live photo mode to capture passing vehicles. Wear flat shoes, as the path can be a bit challenging to walk on.

What is the closest station to the Sea Cliff Bridge?

The Sea Cliff Bridge is accessible by public transportation. Trains from Coalcliff Station run seven days a week, although there is a steep incline from the station to the bridge. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the station to the bridge.

Bus stops are located on both sides of the Sea Cliff Bridge. Premier Illawarra Bus Number 2 operates from Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays).
