Located in the heart of Auckland city, Wētā Workshop Unleashed offers a magical movie special effects experience that the whole family can enjoy. With the guidance of a tour guide, you can visit models, castles, and participate in creative activities, immersing yourself in a world full of imagination.

There are both movie scenes and creative workshops in this unique experience, allowing you to appreciate robotics, sculpture making, and even get up close to a giant galactic robot! Explore interactive and immersive virtual movie scenes, focusing on horror, fantasy, and the science fiction world.

Wētā Workshop Unleashed – Things you need to know

The 90-minute guided tour experience includes:

Part One: Horror

Animatronics and prosthetics are being used to create the horror film “Fauna” Brave visitors can enter a confined horror movie scene where something lurks in the shadows.

Part Two: Fantasy

Enter the artist’s cottage, a tranquil refuge showcasing the imaginative process of concept artists who designed a world for the epic film “Age of the Ever-Clan” Step through the curtains and enter their fantasy world…

Part Three: Science Fiction

Step onto the set of the science fiction adventure film “Origin” – projection lights play on the stage, accompanied by epic interstellar music. A massive robot and epic spaceship immerse you in an atmospheric science fiction spectacle.

You have the opportunity to get up close to captivating environments, resident creatures, surreal giants, galactic robots, and more. Be sure to experience the atmosphere in person, it’s truly amazing!
