Best Natural Swimming Holes in Brisbane
Cedar Creek, Samford
This is a favourite spot for Aussie families! This natural rock pool is a combination of waterfalls, rock pools, and fishing spots. It’s only a 30-minute drive north of Brisbane.

Twin Falls, Springbrook
Springbrook, known as a world heritage site, is home to the stunning Twin Falls. The waterfall plunges from a 150-meter high cliff into a deep pool of clear water, waiting for your exploration.
Location: You can choose to start from the Tallanbana picnic area or Canyon Lookout and walk 4KM clockwise from the front.
Gardners Falls, Maleny
Through native forests and grassy hills, you will discover this beautiful pool where children can play in the water and then nap under the shade of trees. There is also a rope swing for some exciting fun.
Location: Park your car at the Obi Obi Creek parking lot in Maleny, and walk along the winding path downstream to reach the falls.
Kondalilla Falls, Montville
Kondalilla Falls is a natural wonder hidden deep in the tropical rainforest. This subtropical swimming hole is home to rich wildlife and beautiful forests. Crossing the amazing walking trail and along the tropical trees, you can discover cascading waterfalls.

Lower Portals, Mount Barney
Adventure enthusiasts, take note! To get here, you need to embark on a 7-kilometre hike, and although the road is a bit bumpy, you’ll feel like it’s all worth it when you reach your destination!
Address: Navigate to the Lower Portals parking lot, then follow the 4 -kilometre hike signs to the lower reaches of the river, and find a small path leading to a small hill on the right. Finally, walk along the stream for about 50 minutes to reach the Moonlight Slabs and Mt. Barney waterfall.
Currumbin Rock Pools, Currumbin
This is a great spot for adventure! You can swing on ropes, slide down rock slides, climb rocks and frolic in the water, as well as walk on pebble paths, rocky rapids and green forests. Come and enjoy the natural beauty of this shallow water oasis.
Address: Drive south along the Pacific Highway until you turn right onto Stuart Road. From there, turn left onto Currumbin Creek Road. After 8 kilometres, you will find a gallery cafe on your right. Opposite the cafe is a shortcut to the rock pools.
