Unique things to do in Tasmania
Mt. Wellington
You can drive to the top, it’s very cold! Remember to wear a thick coat. Here, you can overlook the entire view of Hobart and even see the Antarctic island on the opposite side!
Port Arthur
This was once the largest prison in the southern hemisphere, but the natural environment is superb. Blue sky, white clouds, green water and mountains make it beautiful. You can take a boat tour and see the four natural wonders: Tasman Arch, Devil’s Kitchen, Blowhole, and Tessellated Pavement.
Salamanca Market
Only open on Saturdays, it has all kinds of goods that are quirky and fascinating. The exhibition halls and art galleries are also worth a visit. Annapurna, an Indian restaurant, is highly recommended.
Bruny Island
Bruny Island is an island within Tasmania that is worth visiting over and over again. You can not only taste freshly caught oysters but also check in at “The Neck,” which has become popular on Instagram and TikTok. Half of it is a raging blue sea, and the other half is a calm blue bay. The narrow road seems to lead to the end of the world!
Wineglass Bay
Once known as one of the “world’s top 10 beaches”, the blue half-moon-shaped edge is surrounded by white water, which is very beautiful! However, you need to hike a long way to see this scenery.
Honeymoon Bay
It’s really beautiful here! A large peaceful lake at the foot of the mountain is crystal clear, and standing here feels like being in a fairyland!
Cradle Mountain
A world heritage site. There’s the peaceful Dove Lake and walking in the quiet mountains, you’ll only hear the chirping of birds and insects, it’s very pleasant. You might even come across a super cute wombat!
Honey Farm
You can taste all kinds of Tasmanian honey. The small honey jars are beautifully packaged and can be used as souvenirs.
Launceston
Once voted the most liveable city for humans. Stroll around the streets in the evening, stop by a nice-looking bar, and you’ll have unexpectedly delicious steaks and lamb chops.
Bridestowe Lavender Farm
Between December and February, you must come to Tasmania’s “Provence”! Wear a beautiful long dress and stroll through the purple flower fields, creating fairy-tale-like photos. Try the farm’s special lavender ice cream and bring home a cute lavender teddy bear.
