I didn’t expect to find a cafe like this in Brisbane. The Flower Precinct is a florist in New Farm, and Coffee by Blanko has its counter inside the shop. I went there with a friend.
The Flower Precinct is a family-run flower studio that opened in 2021, and its newer store is at 148 Merthyr Road in New Farm. Blanko Specialty Coffee runs the coffee and matcha side inside the store. This post is about my one visit, so I’ll stick to what I ordered and what I saw.
The Shop Itself
The shop is the main reason to go. It’s full of plants, and there are pink flowers above your head, which made the whole place feel a bit romantic to me. It’s the kind of place where you want to take photos of everything. There was a vase of pink roses on the small grey table next to our drinks. Because it’s a working florist, you can look at the bouquets while you drink your coffee or matcha, and pick one up for someone before you leave.
What I Ordered
I ordered the Dulce de Leche Latte. I didn’t know what it was, so I asked, and the staff member said it comes with a Spanish caramel. It’s an unusual caramel. The coffee itself isn’t very sweet. The sweet part is the caramel coating on the outside of the cup, and the two went well together. The pistachio drinks here are served with a pistachio spread rim and crushed pistachios on top, so the coated cup seems to be something the place does on purpose.
The Matcha
My friend ordered a hojicha matcha and a pistachio matcha. Later I ordered an iced jasmine matcha as well. That one tasted lighter than the other drinks I tried. If you don’t like sweet drinks, you might like it, because the jasmine flavour is soft and not strong. There are a lot of coffee and matcha choices on the menu. Must Do Brisbane lists the coconut matcha and the pistachio matcha among the drinks to try, and you can see the full list on the Blanko menu before you go.

A Secret Menu and the Other Stores
When we were leaving, the barista told us there’s a secret menu. It’s supposedly a banana matcha, and I’d like to try it next time. The Flower Precinct has other stores too. There’s one in Morningside and one on Queen Street in the city. My friend told me she likes this New Farm one best.
Before You Go
The New Farm store is at Shop 1/148 Merthyr Road. There’s street parking nearby, and both indoor and outdoor seating. The flower shop and the coffee counter have different opening hours, and they change by store, so it’s best to check Google before you head over.
If you’re in Brisbane during the school holidays, Queensland’s spring break runs from 19 September to 5 October 2026. The full dates are on our QLD school holidays and term dates for 2026 page. Was It Worth Going?
For me, yes. The shop is beautiful, the Dulce de Leche latte was different from a normal latte, and there’s still the banana matcha to try. The main reason I’d go back is the shop itself.
