Summer Land Camels
This camel farm is surprisingly clean. You’ll need to bring $3 in coins for the feeding area, which operates on a self-service cash basis. After feeding the camels, you can go to the restaurant to buy Gelato made from camel milk, which is a favorite among kids. The restaurant primarily serves camel meat and dairy products, and we tried a pastry made from camel milk. I couldn’t quite get used to the taste as it had a strong animal flavor, but it was still an interesting experience.

Ipswich Nature Centre
Next, we headed to Ipswich Nature Centre to see animals. Honestly, compared to the distant and tiring Australia Zoo, this place is amazing for children under the age of five. It features a wooden boardwalk throughout, allowing for shaded walks. The park’s layout is well-designed for a one-way tour, passing different animal habitats on both sides. A complete tour takes about forty minutes to an hour.
This free zoo showcases over 40 different species of native Australian wildlife, including wallabies, pythons, black swans, and even some rare and endangered animals like quokkas, bilbies, and black-capped conures. After visiting the zoo, you can take your kids to the nearby Queens Park Playground for more fun.

The Workshops Rail Museum
You can visit the train museum, just a five-minute drive from the zoo. This museum showcases various cargo and passenger trains from Queensland’s early days. There is also a large area with small trains in the Inner Playground, and a crafting area.
The Workshops Rail Museum allows kids to experience driving trains. It also has a Science Centre where kids can learn about how things work. There are also craft materials available for kids to create their own items. Adult tickets are $14.50, kids are $11.50, and children under three get in for free.

Ipswich Children Library
Ipswich Children Library is a great place to take your kids for a visit, suitable for children aged 0-12. The library offers over 35,000 books for various age groups, as well as facilities, puzzles, building blocks, and toys for children to play, learn, and explore. The library’s indoor and outdoor environment is very pleasant, and there’s a large square outside for kids to run around.
