The Best Theme Parks in Australia to Visit This Year

best theme park australia

When it comes to theme parks, Australia definitely has some great options. However, in terms of size and scale, they may not be on the same level as some of the massive theme parks in the United States and Japan. For example, Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California are some of the largest theme parks in the world, with multiple parks and a huge variety of attractions. Similarly, Universal Studios in Japan and the United States boast some of the most technologically advanced rides and immersive experiences.

That being said, Australia still has some amazing theme parks that are definitely worth checking out! Whether you’re into water parks, thrill rides, or animal encounters, there’s something for everyone here. Plus, the smaller size of some of these parks can actually make for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience, without the crowds and long lines of some of the bigger parks. If you have been to Disney Sea in Japan you would know it is quite common to wait for 45 mins just to get on a single ride!

Best Theme Parks in Australia

Dreamworld

Dreamworld is a super popular and exciting theme park located in Australia. One of the most thrilling parts of the park is the Big 9 thrill rides – these are the kind of rides that will definitely get your heart racing! Some of the most popular ones include the Tower of Terror II, The Claw, and the Giant Drop. If you’re looking for a thrill, these rides are definitely worth checking out.

But don’t worry, Dreamworld isn’t all about heart-pumping thrills – there are also plenty of rides that are perfect for families with young children. For example, the ABC Kids World is a great spot for kids, as is the Dreamworld Express train. And for those who love animals, Dreamworld has a range of exhibits where you can get up close and personal with a variety of animals native to Australia, such as Tiger Island and the Australian Wildlife Experience.

Of course, it’s not just about the rides and animal exhibits at Dreamworld – there are also plenty of dining and shopping options available, making it easy to spend a full day exploring all that the park has to offer. Overall, Dreamworld is definitely a must-visit destination if you’re in Australia, offering something for everyone, from adrenaline junkies to families with kids.

Warner Bros. Movie World

Warner Bros. Movie World is one of our favourite theme parks in Australia. It’s so cool how they’ve brought all these popular movies and TV shows to life through their rides and attractions. The Superman Escape roller coaster is hands down our favourite ride in the park – the acceleration is insane and it feels like you’re really flying like a superhero!

The DC Rivals HyperCoaster is also a must-ride for any thrill-seekers out there. It’s amazing how it towers over the park and the views you get from the top are breathtaking. For families with younger kids, there are plenty of fun and exciting rides like the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster and the Looney Tunes Carousel. I remember going on the Road Runner Rollercoaster with my little cousins and they had the time of their lives!

The DC Universe and the Looney Tunes areas are particularly well-done, with so many photo opportunities with your favourite characters. And when you need a break from the rides, there are plenty of street shows and parades to enjoy as well.

Sea World

Sea World in Australia is an awesome theme park that you should definitely check out if you’re ever in the Gold Coast area. The park has a variety of marine themed attractions and rides.

One of the most popular attractions is the Penguin Encounter where you can get up close with the adorable penguins. You can even participate in their feeding session and watch them waddle around their icy habitat.

Another must see attraction is their Shark Bay exhibit, where you can walk through a glass tunnel and see some of the ocean’s most feared predators swimming right above you. It’s really an incredible experience, and it makes you feel like you’re underwater with the sharks!

For rides, Sea World has some great options too. The Storm Coaster is a popular one. It takes you on a wild journey through a stormy sea, with drops and twists that will leave you breathless. And for families with younger kids, the Sesame Street Beach and Castaway Bay areas offer a variety of fun water rides and splash zones.

Luna Park, Sydney

Luna Park is a great amusement park located in Sydney, Australia. First things first, you’ve got to ride their iconic Ferris wheel. The views from the top are absolutely amazing, and it’s also a great way to get an overview of the whole park.

Next, you should definitely check out their Wild Mouse roller coaster. It’s a fast-paced, thrilling ride that is sure to get your heart pumping! And if you’re feeling brave, try riding it backwards – it’s a whole different experience!

If you’re a fan of classic carnival games, Luna Park has plenty to choose from. You can try your hand at ring toss, balloon darts, or even test your strength with a hammer game. And if you’re looking for something a little more high-tech, check out the arcade games inside the Coney Island building.

Of course, no visit to Luna Park would be complete without sampling some of the delicious food on offer. There are plenty of options, from classic carnival treats like popcorn and cotton candy to more substantial fare like burgers and pizza. And if you’re feeling really adventurous, try the famous “Dagwood Dog” – a deep-fried hot dog on a stick!

Finally, be sure to check out some of the live entertainment on offer. There are plenty of talented performers at Luna Park, from musicians and acrobats to street performers and magicians. Keep an eye out for the schedule of events so you don’t miss anything.
