Splash Planet – New Zealand’s Largest Water Park

Splash Planet - New Zealand's Largest Water Park

Taking advantage of the New Year holiday, we booked a hotel and planned our itinerary early. With the little ones, we’re going all out for a vacation! Splash Planet is located in Hastings, southeast of the North Island. It’s about a 5-hour drive from Auckland. This water park is arguably the largest in New Zealand!

The admission tickets for the water park are really affordable. All kinds of rides and equipment are well-equipped.

Splash Planet attracts many tourists every summer. It operates only during the summer, leading to a significant influx of visitors. You should purchase tickets online in advance to save some waiting time, especially for families with children. In addition to many exciting water activities, there are also options for go-karting, off-road vehicles, and mini golf, making it a great choice for a family day out!

Experience and slides

The park not only has four large water slides, a lazy river, and a water play area. They also have several indoor spa pools to relax.
There are also various on-land amusement park facilities to enjoy. E.g. Formula go-karts, kayaks, bumper boats, Fantasyland Express mini train, Jungle Jeeps mini jeeps, Mini Golf, etc.

With so many water and land amusement facilities, you can truly enjoy the park from morning until closing!

Seating in the Park – Unless you arrive very early and queue at the park entrance, you won’t get shaded seats. It’s recommended to bring your own outdoor folding chair or a folding picnic mat to set up a comfortable spot under the trees.

Getting the tickets

On the night before heading to the park, it’s recommended to buy tickets on the website. The next day, join the queue on the left to enter the park.

The adult superpass is $30 (age 14+) and the child superpass is $20 (age 4-13).

The park is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm. The website is www.splashplanet.co.nz/

What to eat

The website says that you can bring picnic food, sandwiches, snacks, water, drinks, etc. However, bringing takeout from McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, etc., is not allowed!

They also have BBQ equipment for rent, and can pre-order and buy ingredients for BBQ in the park or order fast food directly at the park cafe. Their menu includes burgers, pizzas, chicken nuggets, chips, wedges, salads, etc. And surprisingly, the burgers are unexpectedly delicious!
