April in Melbourne has reached the next level, the autumn leaves on Mount Macedon are all red now! We decided to have a day trip! Starting from the city, it takes about an hour to reach.
Honour Avenue
The famous maple leaf avenue, not very crowded on weekdays.
The weather was a bit overcast, it’s great for photos when sunny, a bit chilly without the sun (so dress warmly!)
Address: 58/6 Honour Ave, Macedon VIC 3440
We thought about having a picnic too. But right next to the busy road, we were a little worried about the dust so we gave up!
After taking photos, we went to the second spot.
Forest Glade Gardens
It’s a private garden and it costs $15. Inside, it feels great for photos, thought about having a picnic inside again!
But there was no ticket seller at the entrance, you should buy tickets in advance if you plan to visit. Then it started to rain just as we reached the gate, ended up picnicking in the car.
Didn’t make it inside!
Address: 816 Mount Macedon Rd, Mount Macedon VIC 3441
Lastly, we went to the most popular autumn leave viewing spot.
Mt. Macedon Uniting Church
The church was closed the day we went, the maple leaves hadn’t turned red yet! We may go there in a couple of weeks!
The trees nearby were also very pretty. There’s also a general store and a coffee shop next door, we sat down and had a coffee, chilled for a while.
The ginkgo tree at the entrance of the store was also very beautiful still!
