We were driving through Caboolture on our way to go camping, and decided to swing by Oasis Berries for some strawberry picking. Genuinely one of the better spur-of-the-moment decisions we’ve made. Had to share it.
How the Picking and Pricing Actually Works
The setup here is really good value. $40 gets you an empty box and entry for up to five people. The best part is what that box actually includes.
No time limit. Eat as much as you want while you’re picking. No weighing at the end. And you fill the box as full as you can physically get it.
We ended up picking close to ten kilograms of strawberries. Came home with a completely full box, and honestly we were eating as much as we were picking the whole time. Hard to complain about that.
If your group is bigger than five, it’s an extra $5 a person, or you can just buy a second box, which also comes with five more entries built in.
Dogs and Bookings
If you’ve got a dog, it can wander around the farm on a lead, just not inside the actual picking fields, which makes sense given it’s food.
You also don’t need to book ahead. Just drive up, grab a box, and start picking. About as low-effort as a farm outing gets.
Where and When
Oasis Berries is at 434 Bribie Island Road, Caboolture. The pick-your-own season runs through spring each year, generally opening in September, and it’s open daily from 9am to 5pm while the season’s on. It’s roughly 45 minutes to an hour’s drive from Brisbane, so an easy detour if you’re already heading north.
There’s also a hippo treasure hunt running through the season, with hippos hidden around the farm and a cash prize for whoever finds one, plus strawberry ice cream, slushies and cupcakes if you want something sweet after all that picking.
If you’re planning a camping and strawberry-picking combo like we did, it’s genuinely a great pairing for a weekend family trip. Just catch it while the season’s still running, because pick-your-own only lasts a few weeks each year.
