This Italian restaurant is truly one of our favourite places to eat. Every time we crave Italian food, we find ourselves going there. Each visit, we try something different. Except for the salads, which we personally don’t like so much, we’ve never been disappointed by anything else! We was brought by a friend to this niche Venetian restaurant, Vaporetto. Its decor is distinctly Venetian, as if stepping into Venice.
What we think
From entrees to main courses to post-meal desserts like Gelato, we absolutely love each one. Each pasta and risotto has its own unique characteristics, it depends on what combination of ingredients you like. We have tried the following
Pate d’Anatra – This is the best in Melbourne in our opinion, very smooth and rich. It includes whole macadamia nuts, adding texture, and is served with pomegranate and cherry jam to cut through the richness, which is very fragrant. Paired with bread, it was so good we had four slices!
Carne di Manzo – The beef tartare here isn’t extraordinary but still tasty, fresh with a hint of black garlic sauce flavor. Paired with chips, it was so satisfying!
Pappardelle di Granchio di Al Gatto Nero – We also ordered the Italian crab pappardelle. There was a generous amount of crab; it was decently tasty.
Special Seafood Linguine – The special of the day, it tasted very average at first, but the more we ate, the more addictive it became! The seafood flavour infused into the pasta, subtle yet powerful, and we finished it all.
Overall we highly recommend the pasta and Pate d’Anatra!
The desserts “Mousse al Cioccolato” and “Vaporetto Affogato” are also our favourites.
The latter combines coffee and Italian hazelnut liqueur poured over vanilla ice cream, creating a refreshingly crisp and delightful taste.
The service is particularly good, and dining outdoors feels great. They even provide a small blanket on the chairs, which is really thoughtful!
