Luminous Lantern Parade

Luminous Lantern Parade is one of the largest welcome events in Queensland, symbolising hope and welcoming people to Queensland through the use of its spectacular lighting displays!

As an iconic event on Queensland’s annual calendar, Luminous Lantern Parade is held annually on Queensland Day (June 9th) to celebrate Queensland’s birthday and our unique cultural activities.

Luminous Lantern Parade in 2023

  • Fri 9 Jun 2023 (5:00pm to 9:00pm)
  • South Bank Parklands, Corner Ernest Street, Stanley Street and Grey Street, South Brisbane

The long procession of lanterns will start in South Bank, pass through major attractions in Brisbane, and finally arrive at South Bank Square. A grand concert awaits everyone, where they can dance gracefully amidst beautiful music and dazzling lights, expressing Queensland’s passion and hope for the future.

The lanterns on Lantern Street are also extraordinary, featuring koalas, giraffes, clownfish, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, and other creative and surprising lantern designs. Come and experience the endless creativity and surprises of the people!
