Rooftop Bars in Melbourne

It’s almost the weekend, and what could be more pleasant on a Friday night than to invite a few friends and go to a bar for a drink? Melbourne’s vibrant bars are as famous as its coffee. At unique rooftop bars, you can enjoy fresh air and a view of the city.

Best Rooftop Bars in Melbourne

Rooftop Bar

Located on the 7th floor, you can either climb the stairs or take the elevator, depending on your luck. During the summer, it becomes an outdoor cinema, and you need to book your tickets in advance.

Located in the very centre of Melbourne, Rooftop Bar is an excellent choice for panoramic views of the entire city from the rooftop. it has an industrial-style exterior with exposed wire mesh and captivating art deco lighting strips. The view outside is great, but it may be obstructed by the high-rise buildings around.

On the right side of the area is an open-air cinema and snack bar, which is also an art exhibition space integrated into the bar. On the left is the bar counter, with Melbourne’s classic alcohol selection, and a special feature of this bar is that it can serve cocktails in a jug.

Naked In The Sky

From here, you can enjoy the view of the entire Melbourne and Brunswick Street. Downstairs, there are many cheap and delicious pintxos.

Downstairs, Naked for Santa is together, taking the elevator to the rooftop of the city skyline. The view is so beautiful! The streets of Collingwood and Fitzroy are all in sight! Although you can’t see the sunset directly, the feeling of the evening sun shining on the houses on the street is also beautiful!

Pick a good weather day to take pictures! The indoor and outdoor styles are very different. The walls of the bar downstairs are full of pictures of Naked Santa women/men, which is very appropriate for the name.

Loop Roof

To cope with Melbourne’s fickle weather, this bar is well-equipped with amenities such as retractable awnings, misting machines, and heaters. Their cocktails are served in fancy spray bottles, which is quite interesting.

The bar is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of this building. We made a reservation, so our seats were on the 3rd floor. The 4th floor is for walk-ins, and reserved guests are not allowed to go up there, even though the view might be better during the day and at night!

Before the pandemic, the 1st and 2nd floors used to be an art space run by Loop, where they held art screenings and band performances. Across from Loop Roof is a graffiti mural with a whole wall of green plants, which was also created by Mike Makatron and complements the terrace filled with various greenery.

On the 3rd floor, you can also order food, and many local people come here to celebrate their birthdays. The atmosphere is lively.

Rooftop At QT

QT Hotel has a huge rooftop bar with medieval decor and style. We really like the decoration and environment of this place. It’s not noisy and not too crowded. It’s clean, warm, and comfortable, and the elevator looks great.

The advantage of this place is that you can walk in without a reservation. It’s very suitable for coming here with friends after having lunch or dinner in the city. When the temperature is low at night, this rooftop has a heating ring above, so it’s not cold at all!

Goldilocks

Goldilocks Bar is located above machi machi on Swanston Street. Next to machi machi, there is an elevator that goes up to the 4th floor, and then you walk up a small flight of stairs to get there.

The entire bar is on the balcony, and it feels a bit like the large rooftop at home when you were a kid! The balcony offers a view of the city skyline at night and is decorated in a cozy manner!

Fable Melbourne

A new bar has opened on the top floor of an old office building.

Although the storefront is a bit small, it’s rare to have so many entrees and mains to choose from. The interior features 180-degree glass windows with views of the Melbourne cityscape, and during dinner, you can even catch a glimpse of the sunset.

13/168 Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC 3000

HER Melbourne

The entire building is divided into three parts. The first floor is a French restaurant, and the second floor is a music bar, which is really fun with a great DJ and everyone is high on energy. The third and fourth floors are rooftop bars serving Thai cuisine. Food can be ordered on the first, third, and fourth floors, but not on the second floor.

Bomba Tapas Bar and Rooftop

This rooftop bar is located right in the centre of CBD on Lonsdale Street. When it comes to rooftop bars, people usually mention Bomba. Outside the terrace is the bustling CBD. Although it is not on a particularly high floor, the view is unique because it faces the street.

This is a two-story venue. Downstairs is a Spanish restaurant, while upstairs is a bar. Their specialty is Spanish wine!
